How we scored
Both products are scored on the same two-axis matrix, Enterprise Readiness (X) and Functionality (Y), with a Data Reliability check on the evidence itself. Items below carry a one-line summary; How We Compare Salesforce Document Apps sets out the method and defines each Enterprise Readiness item, and How We Score Salesforce Document Generation Apps defines every feature. CloudFiles' own evidence for every item, on both axes, is compiled once in CloudFiles for Document Generation: The Evidence; each CloudFiles box below gives the difference and cites its sources.
Enterprise Readiness Score (X)
How strongly each product is designed and sold for large organisations, and bought by them, scored 1–5 from four weighted signals. Unless an item names another source, the evidence comes from the vendors' own websites.
Observed buyers
Who actually buys each product, taken from evidence the vendors don't write themselves: the companies behind identified AppExchange reviewers, and the customers each vendor is willing to name.
AppExchange reviewer company sizes
The company size behind each identified AppExchange reviewer, as a read on who actually buys.
The ten most recent reviews of the Conga Composer listing, dated 29 April 2026 to 22 July 2026, were read, and each reviewer's employer was taken from the public Trailblazer profile attached to the review. Three are buyers: a reviewer at Bausch Health (10,001+), one at Riverside Housing (1,001–10,000) and one at Digital Catapult (201–1,000). Five work for consultancies and system integrators (Inetum, Mr Salesforce, Accenture, and IBM twice), counted as channel, and two could not be matched.
Two of the three identified buyers work at large organisations; half the reviewers are implementation partners, not buyers.
Three identified buyers is a thin base for a reading on who buys.

Level: CloudFiles' identified buyers also work at large organisations, two at Ohio University's Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and one at ITW.
Every buyer identified works at a large organisation.
Based on the reviewers whose employers are public on their Trailblazer profiles.

Named customers: modal profile
The typical size and sector of the customers each vendor names publicly.
The Composer product page shows a logo wall of Engie, Twilio, T-Mobile, LinkedIn and Molina, and claims more than 8,000 customers. Other customers named on Conga's pages and customer stories include UnitedLex, HFM Investment Advisors and Marathon Ventures. The most common profile is mid-size to large, with some small firms.
Mid-size to large organisations are the most common named profile, without enterprise names dominating.
The names are vendor-chosen and undated.
Level: CloudFiles' named customers are also mostly large and regulated organisations, including General Mills, Aviva and Commvault.
Large and regulated organisations are the most common named customers.
Two of the logos, ITW and Ohio University, are confirmed by AppExchange reviewers who work there.
Where this leaves Observed buyers: The two are level on both signals. Identified buyers for both work mostly at large organisations, and both name mostly mid-size to large customers. Half of Conga's recent reviewers work for implementation partners.

Commercial & service design
How each product is priced and packaged, what support comes with it, how a buyer can try it, and where each vendor shows up at Salesforce events.
Pricing unit and tiers
The billing unit, the tiers, and what sits behind an enterprise ask.
Conga publishes no price list: its pricing page asks buyers to request a quote. Capterra lists a single custom-priced plan billed per user per month, and Vendr reports per-user pricing with annual minimums, adjusted for batch and custom-template needs. On AppExchange, batch sending, triggered generation and the embed API are listed as add-ons.
Quote-only, per-user pricing with automation and API use sold as add-ons reads as an enterprise model, though no top tier is published.
The structure is confirmed by two third-party pricing sites, but no figures are public.
Level: CloudFiles is also priced by quote, per org or per user, with no add-ons for automation or the API.
Quote-based pricing per org or per user, with no published tier, is the standard enterprise model.
Licensing terms are stated on CloudFiles' pricing pages and its listing; prices are set by quote.
Customer support
How customers reach support, and what each plan includes.
Every Conga subscription includes a self-service plan, and paid plans are tiered as Base, Summit and Pinnacle. The Base plan covers break-fix on standard features, with a two-business-day initial response target. Troubleshooting of customisations and developer support, for break-fix and implementation, come only with the higher plans, and the Conga Learning Pass training library is a paid subscription.
Several channels and response targets, but help with code and customisation is sold as a higher plan.
Read from Conga's own support services agreement.
Two points higher: CloudFiles includes all support, including help with Flow, Apex and the API, in every paid plan, with nothing sold as an add-on.
Real-time and scheduled help, all included in every plan with nothing sold as an add-on, is the rubric's high case.
Support terms are stated on CloudFiles' own pages and confirmed in customer reviews.
Conference and webinar presence
Presence at Salesforce events and in the vendor's own webinars.
Conga sponsored Dreamforce 2025 (14 to 16 October, Moscone) with a booth demo and a speaking session. Its events page lists further dated events, including a Conga Customer Tour in Atlanta on 12 November 2026 and Conga Connect in March 2027, and Composer has had product-launch webinars in February and June 2025 and user-group virtual meetups through 2026.
A Dreamforce sponsorship with a booth and a session is the rule's high case.
Five or more dated events found.
Level: CloudFiles has also exhibited at Dreamforce and Agentforce World Tour events, six times in two years.
Repeated flagship sponsorships with booths and theatre sessions are the rule's high case.
Six flagship events found across two years.
Hands-on evaluation
How a buyer can try the product before committing.
An admin can install Composer for a free 30-day trial from AppExchange, using Get It Now for production or Try It for a sandbox, with ten Composer user licences; extensions go through the account executive. The product page also offers a guided product tour and a demo on request. No test drive that needs no install was found.
A self-serve free trial is Complete; a no-install test drive with a guide would be Extended.
Stated in Conga's docs and on its listing.
One point higher: CloudFiles' Try It button opens a pre-configured test drive org with nothing to install, and its help centre gives a guided test drive for document generation.
A documented, no-install test drive with a guide for document generation is the rubric's high case.
The test drive opens from the AppExchange listing and is documented in CloudFiles' help centre.
Where this leaves Commercial & service design: CloudFiles leads on support and evaluation: it includes all help, with nothing sold as an add-on, and offers a no-install test drive. Conga sells customisation and developer help as higher plans and offers a trial installed in the buyer's org. Both price by quote and both sponsor Dreamforce.

Technical design
The assurance and engineering behind each product: certifications, documentation and developer access.
Security & Compliances
The certifications each vendor claims, and what backs them.
Conga's trust centre lists an annual SOC 2 Type II audit, ISO 27001 and ISO 27701, HIPAA Security, GDPR, CCPA and PCI DSS, with data residency in the US, the EU and APAC, a DPA and a data security exhibit. It names controls such as per-tenant encryption keys, single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, audit logs and annual third-party penetration tests. The ISO certificates are listed in the certification body's public register (certificate 4367-1137110522, issued February 2026).
SOC 2 Type II, ISO and HIPAA, with residency options and named controls, backed by a public register entry.
The ISO certification can be checked in a public register.
Level: CloudFiles is also audited for SOC 2 Type II, holds ISO 27001, 27017 and 27018 and HIPAA, and publishes a DPA and a Trust Portal.
An audited SOC 2 Type II report, ISO and HIPAA certification, a public DPA and a Trust Portal together meet the rule's high bar.
The public DPA and Trust Portal let buyers check these claims, and the SOC 2 Type II report is shared under NDA, as is standard.
Help-doc architecture
How complete and well organised the public help documentation is.
Conga's documentation portal has separate guides for Composer administrators, users and REST API developers, a parameter guide, troubleshooting help, error messages, features by release and dated release notes, with search across the portal. No section on security or permissions was found in the Composer guides.
Broad and organised, with one area, security, missing.
Read in the portal itself; no page count is published.
One point higher: CloudFiles' help centre covers setup, admin, permissions, security and compliance, developer reference and release notes across 492 pages.
A full, organised set covering every area, searchable and kept current.
The page count comes from the help centre's own index.
API depth and gating
The developer surfaces each vendor publishes, and whether any plan restricts them.
Conga documents a REST API for Composer in a dedicated developer guide: getting started, connected app setup, data limits, supported parameters, error handling and use cases. Apex appears only as use cases that call that API, and the older Apex method is described as outdated. The embed API is listed as an add-on, which is noted, not marked down.
A real REST reference, with Apex covered only thinly through it.
Read in the developer guide; depth of individual endpoints varies.
Level: CloudFiles' Apex reference covers generation in full, and it also publishes a REST API.
Both an Apex client and a REST API are published; the Apex reference is the more detailed for generation.
Read from the published Apex and REST references.
Where this leaves Technical design: The two are level on security and developer access. CloudFiles' help centre is the more complete, covering security and permissions, which Conga's Composer guides do not.

Messaging & ecosystem
Who each vendor says the product is for, and how that shows up elsewhere: partners, team and review-site profiles.
Stated ICP and messaging focus
Who the product's own pages say it is for.
The Composer product page says it suits any role or use case, naming sales, HR, legal, marketing, finance and support, and lists industries from technology and financial services to healthcare, manufacturing and logistics. It carries an enterprise logo wall and links to trust and compliance pages, but the messaging is spread across functions.
Broad, any-team messaging.
Read from the product's own page only.
Last read on 2026-11-04Source – 1
One point higher: CloudFiles' document generation page says it is built for enterprise use and leads with security, governance and bulk generation.
Leaning enterprise, with security, governance and scale up front.
Read from the product's own pages only.
Partner ecosystem
The partners each vendor works with, and who confirms them.
Conga announced a strategic partnership with Accenture in 2023, named Accenture its SI partner of the year in 2021, gave Deloitte an innovation award the same year, and named TCS the first partner in its Elevated Partnership Program in February 2024. It runs a partner directory and partner community.
Global systems integrators named as partners is the rubric's high case.
The partnerships are announced by Conga; the partners' own confirmation was not found.
One point lower: CloudFiles runs a formal partner programme with nine named implementation partners, and names Accenture, Deloitte, KPMG and others as integrators it has delivered with.
A formal tiered programme with several named partners.
Partners are named on CloudFiles' partner page, three with their staff quoted.
Team mix
The functions and regions visible in each vendor's team.
Conga's LinkedIn People page shows 799 members in the United States and 739 in India, largely in Bengaluru. The largest functions are engineering (730), sales (235), information technology (228), business development (192) and operations (187).
A strong mix of functions across time zones.
Read from LinkedIn's own counts.

Level: CloudFiles' team also mixes business and technical roles across regions.
A strong mix of business and technical roles across time zones.
Read from LinkedIn and independent company profiles.
Review-site profile richness
Presence across the three main B2B review sites.
Conga Composer has well-populated profiles on all three sites: G2 rates it 4.4 from 921 reviews and places it in its Salesforce CRM document generation category, Capterra rates Conga Document Generation 4.4 from about 117 reviews, and TrustRadius lists more than 160 reviews, including a video review.
All three sites well populated.
Counted from the review sites themselves.
One point lower: CloudFiles is on all three sites, led by a G2 profile with 217 reviews, a product video and several categories.
Profiles on all three sites, led by a rich, actively maintained G2 profile.
Counted from the review sites themselves.
Where this leaves Messaging & ecosystem: Conga leads here: global integrators announced as partners and well-populated profiles on all three review sites. CloudFiles' document generation messaging leans more towards enterprise buyers.

Features Score (Y)
How complete each product is across the feature map's five categories, each feature rated on a five-rung ladder from Absent to Extended, with Dealbreaker features able to gate the whole score: each must reach L4. The score itself is the average rung across the eighteen features, weighted by Kano class (Dial 3, Delighter 2, Dealbreaker 1, Distractor 0), on a 1–5 scale. Each card gives the rung and why the evidence lands there, the feature's Kano class and, where it applies, an automation rating.
Template
How each product's templates are built, and how the template library is kept in order.
Template Authoring Kano · Dial
How a template is built, and how easily merge fields, tables and conditions are placed.
Composer has no Office add-in. Its Template Builder is a field picker inside Salesforce, from which merge fields are copied or dragged into a Word file. Repeating tables are typed as TableStart and TableEnd tags and conditions as Word IF fields, and there is no live preview: a template is saved and test-merged.
Fields, tables and conditions are typed as syntax by hand, which is Limited.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Two rungs higher: CloudFiles' add-ins for Word, Excel and PowerPoint place fields, tables and conditions point-and-click, with a live preview on real record data.
Office add-ins with point-and-click fields, tables and conditions are Complete; several formats and live preview with real data make it Extended.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Template Management Kano · Delighter
Keeping the template library in order: folders, versions, access and moving templates between orgs.
Templates can be grouped with Template Groups. There is no version history; access is set only through Salesforce sharing on the template object, and templates move between orgs by hand, as the migration utility is deprecated.
Grouping without versions or per-template access is Limited.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Level: CloudFiles adds folders, version and release control, usage insights and changeset migration.
Folders, versions and migration are in place; access set per template by profile or role is the step to Complete.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Where this leaves Template: CloudFiles leads on authoring: add-ins in Word, Excel and PowerPoint against Conga's typed tags. The two are level on management, where CloudFiles adds versions, release control and migration.

Data
Where the values in each product's documents come from.
Data Sources Kano · Dealbreaker
How far from the triggering record a template can reach.
Composer reaches any object through SOQL queries, reports and nested queries. Its REST API merges a JSON payload with Salesforce master-record data in one request, so outside data can join a run without being stored first.
Outside data merged into the same run through the API is Extended.
Apex calls the Composer API, and Flow runs Composer through Conga Trigger.
Level: CloudFiles also merges outside data into the same run, through runtime variables and collections filled by Flow or Apex.
Outside data merged into the same run without being stored on a record is Extended.
Flow and Apex both pass records, collections and outside values into a run.
Runtime Input Kano · Delighter
Values supplied at generation time rather than stored beforehand.
SelectTemplates lets users choose and order templates at run time. Other values can only be passed as URL parameters on the button.
A fixed prompt for template choice is Limited.
Values pass through URL parameters or the API; the Apex method is described as outdated and no Flow route for inputs is documented.
Two rungs higher: CloudFiles templates define typed runtime variables, the widget prompts for them, and a Screen Flow can wrap them in a guided wizard.
A guided wizard with validation, built in Flow on the app's documented actions, is Extended.
Flow and Apex pass the same runtime values.
Where this leaves Data: Both reach Extended on data sources. CloudFiles leads on runtime input, with typed variables and prompts against Conga's template choice and URL parameters.

Content Logic
What each product does to the data: select, repeat, compute and visualise.
Conditional Logic Kano · Dial
Showing, hiding or choosing content based on data.
Word IF fields compare one expression; Conga calls nested IFs not recommended and its support does not cover them. TableHide hides a table by a master field. AND/OR conditions and choosing a template by data need a formula field added to the master object, which is a workaround.
Simple show or hide on one field is Limited; AND/OR needs a formula field.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Two rungs higher: CloudFiles conditions combine rules with AND, OR or custom logic on any content, with no formula fields.
Nested AND/OR conditions on any content, plus templates chosen by data, is Extended.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Repeating Content Kano · Dealbreaker
Repeating rows or whole sections for each related record.
Tables repeat with TableStart and TableEnd tags, sorted and filtered with ORDER BY and WHERE. A subquery inside the table nests a child table, and TableGroup groups rows with a page break per group. Nested queries work in Word templates only.
Nested tables and grouping are Extended.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Calculations & Formatting Kano · Dial
Deriving and presenting values: totals, formulas and number, date and currency formats.
Word formula fields such as SUM(ABOVE) total table columns, IF fields test values, and picture switches format numbers and dates. Formats follow the running user's locale, with Culture and CurrencyCulture parameters to override it. General arithmetic is not documented, and TPV translates picklist values only.
Formulas and totals in the template with locale-aware formats is Complete.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Level: CloudFiles Excel templates keep formulas and totals across every merged row, and merged values follow each user's locale and time zone.
Formulas and totals in the template with locale-aware formats is Complete.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Rich Media Kano · Delighter
Turning data into visuals: images, charts, barcodes and QR codes.
The IMAGE prefix places dynamic images, and PowerPoint charts are linked to a Conga query through the chart's alt text. Barcodes need a barcode font, which is a workaround, and no QR codes were found.
Dynamic images and charts from record data is Complete.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
One rung lower: CloudFiles places dynamic images from URL fields or Salesforce Files, and keeps Office charts in the output.
Dynamic images are Limited; charts driven by merged data are the step to Complete.
Automation is not rated for this feature.

Output & Delivery
The file each product makes, where it goes, what comes back and the record of the run.
Output Formats Kano · Dealbreaker
The file types produced, and the finishing applied to them.
Output can be Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF or HTML email, with PDF/A and an open password set through the PSPW parameter.
PDF and the Office formats, plus PDF/A and passwords, is Extended.
Apex sets the format through the Composer API; Flow, through Conga Trigger, runs a fixed solution.
Level on the rung: CloudFiles also outputs PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint with PDF passwords and restrictions, and Flow sets the format directly.
PDF and the Office formats, plus PDF password and restrictions, is Extended.
Flow and Apex both set the format directly.
Fillable Documents Kano · Delighter
Generated documents with fields a recipient fills in, and whether answers return to Salesforce.
PDF templates place and prefill form fields. The answers return to Salesforce only through Conga Sign, which is scored in the e-signature arena.
Fillable PDF fields without write-back outside e-signature is Limited.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Level: CloudFiles also prefills fillable PDF fields and checkboxes from data.
Fillable PDF fields prefilled from data are Limited; answers written back to Salesforce are the step to Complete.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Document Packets Kano · Delighter
Several documents from one run, combined or delivered together.
Up to 40 templates merge in a chosen order into one PDF or a ZIP, and the AttachmentID parameter appends up to 150 existing files. Choosing contents by condition needs a formula field or a button URL, which is a workaround.
Templates and existing files combined in order is Complete.
Packets run from Apex through the API and from Flow through Conga Trigger.
One rung higher: CloudFiles merges generated and existing files in order, and a Flow can choose the contents by condition without formula fields.
Templates and existing files combined in order is Complete; contents chosen by condition in Flow make it Extended.
Merge Documents runs from Flow and Apex.
Bulk Generation Kano · Delighter
Generating documents for many records in one run.
Conga Batch runs from reports, queries or list views, producing one consolidated file or a file per record, on schedules from hourly to monthly, with a dashboard listing per-record errors.
Large scheduled batches with an error list are Extended.
Batches are scheduled in Conga Batch; Conga does not allow Trigger to start a batch from Flow, and the Apex route is unsupported.
Last read on 2026-11-03Source – 1
Level on the rung: CloudFiles also runs large and scheduled batches with per-record results, and starts them directly from Flow and Apex.
Large batches with progress and errors are Complete; scheduled batches make it Extended.
The batch action runs from Flow and Apex.
Preview & Edit Kano · Dial
Seeing and adjusting a generated document before it is final.
Live Edit opens the merged Word document in a rich-text window before delivery, and Continue finalises and sends it. It works with a single Word template only, without headers, footers or text boxes, and not in the Lightning component.
Preview and edit before sending is Complete, with limits noted.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Last read on 2026-11-03Source – 1
Level: CloudFiles also lets users edit Word files and annotate PDFs before the document is final.
Preview and edit inside Salesforce before saving or sending is Complete.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Save & Write-back Kano · Delighter
Where the finished file is kept, under what name, and what is written back to the record.
The OFN parameter names output files, SC1 saves to destinations including Box, OneDrive, Google Drive and Amazon S3, and Composer can update up to three fields on the master record and log an activity.
External storage, naming and field updates are Extended.
Saving and write-back are set by parameters from Apex and from Flow through Conga Trigger.
Level: CloudFiles also saves to external storage with naming rules, and a Flow updates the record from its outputs.
Saving to external storage with naming rules and record updates is Extended.
Save location, name and follow-up updates are set from Flow and Apex.
Send & Hand-off Kano · Delighter
Sending the finished document on, by email, to e-signature or to a later workflow.
Merge & Email sends with Conga email templates. Documents go to Conga Sign or DocuSign with signer fields placed from template anchors, and hand off to Box, Google Drive, OneDrive and Chatter.
Templated email, a choice of e-signature tools and signer fields from the template is Extended.
Sending runs from Apex and from Flow through Conga Trigger.
Two rungs lower: CloudFiles sends by email from Flow and to DocuSign, with signer fields placed from the template and Adobe Sign coming.
Email and one e-signature tool are Limited; a choice of e-signature tools is the step to Complete.
Sending runs from Flow and Apex.
Run History Kano · Delighter
The record of what was generated, by whom, and with what result.
The Composer activity report lists each merge with time, date, user, product and success or failure, with a summary by user. The record, template and error text are not stated, and the Conga Trigger dashboard shows errors for Trigger runs only.
A run log without record, template or error detail is Limited.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Two rungs higher: CloudFiles logs each run with its record, file and errors, and adds usage dashboards.
A log of every run with errors, plus usage dashboards, is Extended.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Where this leaves Output & Delivery: The two are level on five of the eight features. CloudFiles leads on packets and run history; Conga leads on sending, with templated email and a choice of e-signature tools.
