What this page is
CloudFiles appears in every document generation comparison this blog publishes, so its own evidence lives here once instead of being restated in each one. Every head-to-head evidence post links back to the relevant section below for the full detail behind CloudFiles' score; the post itself carries only the score and the one fact that explains the difference.
CloudFiles sits on the same two-axis matrix as every product we compare, scored from the same weighted signals and Data Reliability check. For the method and each Enterprise Readiness item, see How We Compare Salesforce Document Apps; each feature is defined in How We Score Salesforce Document Generation Apps.
Enterprise Readiness (X)
Scored 1–5 on how enterprise-oriented CloudFiles' product, sales and customer base are, from four weighted signals. Evidence is from CloudFiles' own site unless an item says otherwise.
Observed buyers
Who buys CloudFiles Document Generation, judged from sources outside our own marketing: the organisations its AppExchange reviewers work for, and the customers we name.
AppExchange reviewer company sizes
Who buys CloudFiles Document Generation, judged by where its AppExchange reviewers work.
Seven reviews of the CloudFiles Document Generation listing, dated June 2024 to July 2025, were read, and each reviewer's employer was taken from the public Trailblazer profile attached to the review. The buyers identified all work at large organisations: Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, part of Ohio University (1,001–10,000), and ITW (10,001+).
Every buyer identified works at a large organisation.
Based on the reviewers whose employers are public on their Trailblazer profiles.

Named customers: modal profile
The most common profile among the customers CloudFiles names on its document generation pages.
The Document Generation page carries CloudFiles' company-wide wall of eighteen customer logos, most of them large, public-sector or regulated organisations: General Mills, Dun & Bradstreet, Aviva, PenFed, Ohio University, Arthrex, Commvault, Computacenter, Aggreko, ITW, Lummus and Northumbrian Water among them. The page also quotes document generation customers, including the College for Adult Learning, AllayPay and Ovalis Group.
Large and regulated organisations are the most common named customers.
Two of the logos, ITW and Ohio University, are confirmed by AppExchange reviewers who work there.
Where this leaves Observed buyers: Both signals lean enterprise: the reviewers who could be identified work at large organisations, and large and regulated names dominate the logo wall.

| AppExchange reviewer company sizes | 4 · Leans high | Low |
| Named customers: modal profile | 4 · Leans high | Medium |
Commercial & service design
The commercial side of CloudFiles: how it is priced, the support included with every plan, how buyers can try it first, and where it appears across Salesforce's event calendar.
Pricing unit and tiers
CloudFiles' billing unit and tier structure, and what sits behind an enterprise ask.
CloudFiles' Salesforce products are priced by quote and licensed per org or per user, so each deployment is sized to its scope. Sales-led pricing like this is the standard model in enterprise software, where deployments vary too much for a flat seat price. The Document Generation listing on AppExchange says pricing is on request, with support and implementation included, a free 14-day trial, and volume and nonprofit discounts.
Quote-based pricing per org or per user, with no published tier, is the standard enterprise model.
Licensing terms are stated on CloudFiles' pricing pages and its listing; prices are set by quote.
Customer support
How customers reach CloudFiles support, and what's promised on each plan.
Support is included free with every paid plan: live chat, email, and as many live calls with a solution engineer as the implementation needs, starting with a 45-minute onboarding call, including help with Flow, Apex and the API. No part of support is sold as an add-on, and there are no extra charges.
Real-time and scheduled help, all included in every plan with nothing sold as an add-on, is the rubric's high case.
Support terms are stated on CloudFiles' own pages and confirmed in customer reviews.
Conference and webinar presence
CloudFiles' presence at Salesforce events and in its own webinars.
CloudFiles has exhibited at six Salesforce flagship events in two years: Dreamforce 2024, 2025 and 2026, and the Agentforce World Tours in New York (2025 and 2026) and London (2025), usually with a booth and a theatre session. Salesforce's own Dreamforce account posted on LinkedIn that CloudFiles showcased end-to-end automation at World Tour New York.
Repeated flagship sponsorships with booths and theatre sessions are the rule's high case.
Six flagship events found across two years.
Hands-on evaluation
How a buyer can try CloudFiles Document Generation before committing.
Every CloudFiles AppExchange listing has a Try It button that opens a pre-configured test drive org, with nothing to install. CloudFiles' help centre documents a guided test drive for each product (document generation, document management and sharing, and document AI), each with an introduction, step-by-step instructions, implementation notes and what to try next.
A documented, no-install test drive with a guide for document generation is the rubric's high case.
The test drive opens from the AppExchange listing and is documented in CloudFiles' help centre.
Where this leaves Commercial & service design: CloudFiles reads highly ready: all support is included, document generation has a guided no-install test drive, and CloudFiles exhibits at Salesforce's flagship events.

Technical design
The engineering and assurance behind CloudFiles: certifications, documentation and developer access for document generation.
Security & Compliances
CloudFiles' security certifications and the documents that back them.
CloudFiles says it is independently audited for SOC 2 Type II (report under NDA), holds ISO 27001, 27017 and 27018 certification, HIPAA compliance with BAAs for enterprise customers, and GDPR compliance backed by a public DPA and standard contractual clauses. Data residency options span the US, EU, UK and Australia, with TLS 1.2+/1.3 in transit and AES-256 at rest.
An audited SOC 2 Type II report, ISO and HIPAA certification, a public DPA and a Trust Portal together meet the rule's high bar.
The public DPA and Trust Portal let buyers check these claims, and the SOC 2 Type II report is shared under NDA, as is standard.
Help-doc architecture
The depth and organisation of CloudFiles' public help centre.
CloudFiles' help center spans 492 indexed pages across setup, admin, permissions, security and compliance, developer reference and release notes, with a searchable index and a 41-entry changelog.
A full, organised set covering every area, searchable and kept current.
The page count comes from the help centre's own index.
API depth and gating
The developer surfaces CloudFiles publishes for document generation.
CloudFiles' Apex reference covers document generation in full: Generate Document and its synchronous and batch variants, Get Doc-Gen Templates, and the request, template and result types, with platform events for generated documents and errors. None of it is gated by plan. CloudFiles also publishes a REST API, and its document generation developer overview describes generating documents from outside apps.
Both an Apex client and a REST API are published; the Apex reference is the more detailed for generation.
Read from the published Apex and REST references.
Where this leaves Technical design: CloudFiles reads highly ready on security and documentation, and its Apex reference covers document generation in full.

Messaging & ecosystem
What CloudFiles says about who it is for, and how that shows up elsewhere: the audience its pages target, its partners, its team, and its review-site profiles.
Stated ICP and messaging focus
Who CloudFiles' document generation pages say the product is for.
The Document Generation page is described as built for enterprise use. It carries an enterprise-grade security section listing SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR and data residency in the US, EU, UK and Australia, and an FAQ on enterprise document generation for large volumes. It also leads with template governance, bulk generation and Apex and API access. Broader messaging sits alongside: Salesforce teams in sales, legal, HR and operations, with use cases such as quotes, invoices and renewals.
Leaning enterprise, with security, governance and scale up front.
Read from the product's own pages only.
Partner ecosystem
The partners CloudFiles works with, and who confirms the relationship.
CloudFiles runs a formal partner programme for Salesforce and HubSpot, with referral, implementation, reselling and OEM tracks, commissions and a four-step onboarding. Its partner page names nine implementation partners, three of them with staff quoted by name (Wunderbricks, CloudForia and Sitetracker), and lists Accenture, Deloitte, KPMG, Capgemini, HCLTech and Slalom as global integrators it has delivered customer projects with. An IT consultancy's blog also walks through integrating CloudFiles with Salesforce, and the firm called itself "a partner of CloudFiles" in a conference social post.
A formal tiered programme with several named partners.
Partners are named on CloudFiles' partner page, three with their staff quoted.
Team mix
The functions and regions visible in CloudFiles' team.
CloudFiles' LinkedIn team shows an even mix of business roles (sales, business development and marketing) and technical roles, distributed across regions for round-the-clock coverage rather than a single time zone.
A strong mix of business and technical roles across time zones.
Read from LinkedIn and independent company profiles.
Review-site profile richness
CloudFiles' presence across the three main B2B review sites.
CloudFiles is listed on G2, Capterra and TrustRadius, led by a claimed, actively maintained G2 profile with 217 reviews, a product video, 6+ images, several categories and a Top-Rated Alternatives comparison.
Profiles on all three sites, led by a rich, actively maintained G2 profile.
Counted from the review sites themselves.
Where this leaves Messaging & ecosystem: CloudFiles leans enterprise in its messaging, runs a formal partner programme, has a strong team mix across regions and is on all three review sites.

Functionality (Y)
CloudFiles feature by feature, on the same Absent-to-Extended ladder every product is measured against. The Functionality score is the average rung across the eighteen features, weighted by Kano class (Dial 3, Delighter 2, Dealbreaker 1, Distractor 0), on a 1–5 scale. Cards show the rung reached and the reason for it, the Kano class, and an automation rating where one applies, all read from CloudFiles' own help documentation and product pages.
Template
How CloudFiles templates are built and how the library is kept.
Template Authoring Kano · Dial
How a template is built, and how easily merge fields, tables and conditions are placed.
Templates are built in Word, Excel and PowerPoint through CloudFiles add-ins, whose action menu inserts fields, tables, loops, conditions, pictures and links point-and-click across the data model. A template can be previewed with real record data and runtime values before it is published, and a native PDF builder handles PDF templates.
Office add-ins with point-and-click fields, tables and conditions are Complete; several formats and live preview with real data make it Extended.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Template Management Kano · Delighter
Keeping the template library in order: folders, versions, access and moving templates between orgs.
The Template Management Hub groups templates in folders by object, with tags, version and release control, and usage and audit insights. Templates move between orgs as changesets that the target org deploys or rejects. A tutorial shows how to limit templates to certain users with a custom object and a Screen Flow.
Folders, versions and migration are in place; access set per template by profile or role is the step to Complete.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Where this leaves Template: CloudFiles reaches Extended on authoring, through Office add-ins with live preview, and Limited on template management, which covers folders, versions and migration.

Data
Where the values in a CloudFiles document come from.
Data Sources Kano · Dealbreaker
How far from the triggering record a template can reach.
Templates reach any standard or custom object, related at several levels, and filtered record collections. Runtime variables and collections defined in the template can be filled by Flow or Apex in the same run, including data from outside Salesforce, without first storing it on a record.
Outside data merged into the same run without being stored on a record is Extended.
Flow and Apex both pass records, collections and outside values into a run.
Runtime Input Kano · Delighter
Values supplied at generation time rather than stored beforehand.
Typed runtime variables, single values or collections with defaults, are defined in the template, and the generation widget prompts for required values. Users pick the template. Get Doc-Gen Templates returns a template's variables, so an admin can build a guided Screen Flow with validation around them, and Flow and Apex can pass the same values with no user.
A guided wizard with validation, built in Flow on the app's documented actions, is Extended.
Flow and Apex pass the same runtime values.
Where this leaves Data: Both features reach Extended: outside data joins the same run, and runtime values can be prompted for or passed by Flow and Apex.

Content Logic
What CloudFiles does to the data: select, repeat, compute and visualise.
Conditional Logic Kano · Dial
Showing, hiding or choosing content based on data.
Insert Condition wraps any text, table or picture, with several rules joined by AND, OR or custom logic in brackets, testing fields, runtime variables and template resources. A whole template can be chosen by data in the Generate Document Flow action, for example by record type.
Nested AND/OR conditions on any content, plus templates chosen by data, is Extended.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Repeating Content Kano · Dealbreaker
Repeating rows or whole sections for each related record.
Insert Table fills table rows from a collection with sorting, filtering and a limit, Insert Loop repeats a whole template section for each record, and Group By aggregates collections.
Repeated whole sections and grouping go beyond Complete.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Calculations & Formatting Kano · Dial
Deriving and presenting values: totals, formulas and number, date and currency formats.
Excel templates keep their own formulas: a formula in a table row is copied to every generated row, a total row is extended over all the generated rows, and the workbook recalculates when it opens. Numbers, dates, times and date-times merge in the locale and time zone of the user who generates the document, through the $locale and $timeZone variables. Group By also totals collections with sum, average, maximum, minimum and count, and Formatting Controls set fixed number, currency, percent and date formats.
Formulas and totals in the template with locale-aware formats is Complete.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Rich Media Kano · Delighter
Turning data into visuals: images, charts, barcodes and QR codes.
Insert Picture places dynamic images from URL fields or Salesforce Files. Charts placed in Office templates are kept in the output.
Dynamic images are Limited; charts driven by merged data are the step to Complete.
Automation is not rated for this feature.

Output & Delivery
The file CloudFiles makes, where it goes, what comes back and the record of the run.
Output Formats Kano · Dealbreaker
The file types produced, and the finishing applied to them.
Output can be PDF, Word, Excel or PowerPoint. PDFs can carry a password, print and copy restrictions, and a lock. The format is a direct input on the Generate Document Flow action and in Apex.
PDF and the Office formats, plus PDF password and restrictions, is Extended.
Flow and Apex both set the format directly.
Fillable Documents Kano · Delighter
Generated documents with fields a recipient fills in, and whether answers return to Salesforce.
The PDF builder prefills an uploaded fillable PDF's fields and checkboxes from data, and the output can stay fillable.
Fillable PDF fields prefilled from data are Limited; answers written back to Salesforce are the step to Complete.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Document Packets Kano · Delighter
Several documents from one run, combined or delivered together.
Merge Documents, from Flow or Apex, combines generated outputs with Salesforce Files and files from an external library, in PDF, Word, PNG or JPEG, into one PDF in the order given. A Flow can assemble the list by condition, and document packets deliver a set for signing.
Templates and existing files combined in order is Complete; contents chosen by condition in Flow make it Extended.
Merge Documents runs from Flow and Apex.
Bulk Generation Kano · Delighter
Generating documents for many records in one run.
Generate Document (Batch) runs large asynchronous batches from list views, Flow or record collections, with a success or error event for each record. A Flow can catch those events to track progress and log errors, and a scheduled Flow can run the batch.
Large batches with progress and errors are Complete; scheduled batches make it Extended.
The batch action runs from Flow and Apex.
Preview & Edit Kano · Dial
Seeing and adjusting a generated document before it is final.
The CloudFiles Preview component in a Screen Flow shows the generated file and, with editing allowed, lets users edit Word files and annotate PDFs, saving a new version before the flow continues. The component is part of CloudFiles Document Management, and the generation widget also shows a preview.
Preview and edit inside Salesforce before saving or sending is Complete.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Save & Write-back Kano · Delighter
Where the finished file is kept, under what name, and what is written back to the record.
Generated files save to the record, Salesforce Files, a library or external storage, named from fields or runtime values. The Flow action's outputs and events let a Flow update the record after generation.
Saving to external storage with naming rules and record updates is Extended.
Save location, name and follow-up updates are set from Flow and Apex.
Send & Hand-off Kano · Delighter
Sending the finished document on, by email, to e-signature or to a later workflow.
A Flow Send Email step sends the generated file, and documents go to DocuSign for signature with signer fields placed from the template; Adobe Sign is coming.
Email and one e-signature tool are Limited; a choice of e-signature tools is the step to Complete.
Sending runs from Flow and Apex.
Run History Kano · Delighter
The record of what was generated, by whom, and with what result.
In Custom Object Mode, a CloudFiles Event record is kept for each generated document, with the record, file and name, and for each error, with the template, record and context, plus the user who ran it, under a retention setting. A Usage dashboard and template usage and audit insights sit on top.
A log of every run with errors, plus usage dashboards, is Extended.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Where this leaves Output & Delivery: CloudFiles reaches Extended on formats, packets, bulk generation, saving and run history, Complete on preview and edit, and Limited on fillable documents and sending.

Experience Cloud Support Kano · Delighter
Whether portal users can generate documents, and how much they can do.
Portal users generate documents through the generation widgets or Flows on Experience Cloud pages, choose options in a Screen Flow, and preview the result through the Preview component with a service account.
Portal users generating with options and preview is Extended.
Automation is not rated for this feature.
Mobile Compatibility Kano · Distractor
Whether documents can be generated in the Salesforce mobile app.
Generation flows and their outputs work in the Salesforce mobile app, and in Field Service mobile.
Generate, preview and save on mobile is Complete.
Automation is not rated for this feature.

Data Reliability
How much of CloudFiles' record is public and precise, across the 31 items above. In document generation, Data Reliability averages two components, Coverage and Precision. CloudFiles' record comes out Well documented, at 88%.
| Component | CloudFiles |
|---|---|
| Coverage: is it public at all? | 98% |
| Precision: is it a checkable fact? | 78% |
Nearly everything scored is public, and every feature rests on a dated CloudFiles help page. Precision is counted only where a precise figure is expected, so it applies to nine of the thirteen Enterprise Readiness items.
