This Cookie Policy explains how Cloudfiles Technologies Inc (“CloudFiles”, “we”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on www.cloudfiles.io, what each one does, and how you control them. It covers this marketing website only — the CloudFiles application inside Salesforce or HubSpot is governed by our Privacy Policy and your organisation’s agreement with us.
Your choices, in short
Nothing but strictly necessary cookies is set until you choose. If you are visiting from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we show you a banner on your first visit and load no analytics, functional or marketing technology until you tell us we may. Elsewhere, those technologies run by default and you can switch them off at any time.
You can change your choice whenever you like: select “Cookie preferences” in the footer of any page. Your decision is stored for six months, after which we ask again. We also ask again if we add or change a vendor, because your earlier choice did not cover it.
If your browser or extension sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as an instruction to opt out of marketing technologies — and, in regions that require prior consent, analytics as well. We apply it automatically, without showing you a banner, and the footer confirms “Opt-Out Request Honored” when we have done so.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store on your device. Cookies set by cloudfiles.io are first-party cookies; cookies set by another domain are third-party cookies. This policy also covers similar technologies that read from or write to your device — local storage, pixels and web beacons — which we refer to collectively as “cookies”.
The categories we use
Strictly necessary
Required to deliver the site and keep it secure. These are set on every visit, cannot be switched off, and are exempt from consent because the site cannot function without them. They never store marketing identifiers and we do not use them to profile you.
| Provider | Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| cloudfiles.io | cf_consent | Stores your cookie choice (which categories you allowed, when you chose, and a random identifier that links your choice to our record of it). Without it we would have to ask you on every page. | 6 months |
| cloudflare.com | __cf_bm | Cloudflare bot management — distinguishes humans from automated traffic. Set by our infrastructure provider on requests to this site. | 30 minutes |
| cloudflare.com | cf_clearance | Records that a Cloudflare Turnstile challenge was passed, so you are not challenged again on the same visit. Set only where Turnstile challenges are used, such as on our forms. | Up to 1 year |
Cloudflare Turnstile protects our forms from automated abuse. It is a security and fraud-prevention measure, which is why it sits in this category rather than behind a consent switch.
Analytics
Helps us understand which pages people find useful so we can improve them. Loaded only with your consent (and, where prior consent is required, not loaded at all until you give it).
| Provider | Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| cloudfiles.io | _ga, _ga_<id> | Google Analytics 4 — distinguishes visitors and sessions so we can count page views and understand navigation paths. | Up to 2 years |
| cloudfiles.io | _gid | Google Analytics 4 — distinguishes visitors over a short window. | 24 hours |
Provided by Google Ireland Limited. We load Google Analytics through Google Tag Manager and use Google Consent Mode, so your choice is passed to Google with every request. See Google’s Privacy Policy and Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
Functional
Powers our live chat, so you can start a conversation with us and we can keep its history if you come back.
| Provider | Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| getgist.com | gist_id, gist_session | Gist live chat — identifies your chat session so a conversation continues across pages and visits. | Up to 1 year |
Provided by Gist Applications, Inc. You can use our chat without enabling this category. If you have not allowed functional cookies, the chat widget is not loaded at all; selecting a “Chat with us” control loads it at that moment, because you have asked for it. See Gist’s Privacy Policy.
Marketing
Lets us measure whether our advertising works and reach people who have shown an interest in CloudFiles. This is the category that involves sharing data with advertising partners.
| Provider | Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| linkedin.com | li_sugr, bcookie, lidc, UserMatchHistory, AnalyticsSyncHistory | LinkedIn Insight Tag — measures conversions from our LinkedIn advertising and builds audiences for it. | Up to 2 years |
| cloudfiles.io | _gcl_au | Google Ads — attributes sign-ups and demo requests to the advertisement that led to them. | 3 months |
| doubleclick.net | IDE, test_cookie | Google Ads remarketing — allows CloudFiles advertisements to be shown to you on other sites. | Up to 13 months |
Provided by LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company and Google Ireland Limited. See the LinkedIn Privacy Policy and Google’s advertising policies.
Outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, this category also enables ZoomInfo WebSights (ZoomInfo Technologies LLC), which estimates the organisation a visitor belongs to from their IP address so our sales team knows which companies are interested in us. It identifies organisations, not individuals. We do not run it for visitors in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland at all, regardless of consent. See the ZoomInfo Privacy Policy.
For visitors in California
Our use of advertising technologies — the Marketing category above — may constitute a “sale” or “share” of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended. We do not sell personal information for money.
To opt out, select “Cookie preferences” in the footer and turn off Marketing. We also honour Global Privacy Control signals automatically, as described above; where we have processed one, the footer confirms it. We do not require you to create an account or verify your identity to opt out, and opting out does not change the price or quality of anything we offer you.
Managing cookies in your browser
Independently of the controls on this site, most browsers let you block or delete cookies, and many offer a private browsing mode. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of this site working. Browser controls are per-device and per-browser, so you would need to repeat them elsewhere.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when the technologies we use change. When a change affects what we ask your permission for, we ask you again rather than relying on your earlier choice — so a new vendor never inherits a consent you gave for a different one. The date at the top of this page shows the current version.
