CloudFiles Widgets Explained
The Content Library Widget is a modular Lightning Web Component designed to help Salesforce users manage a centralized repository of documents—without relying on Salesforce File Storage. Instead, it connects directly to external storage platforms like SharePoint, Google Drive, AWS S3, and more. It is ideal for internal teams such as Sales, Legal, or HR that need shared access to standardized documents like proposal templates, contracts, onboarding assets, or policy documents. Admins can deploy this widget on record pages, utility bars, or custom tabs to give users a single, organized location for uploading, accessing, and managing files across business processes.
What It Does
- Creates a shared document library that lives inside Salesforce but stores files externally
- Enables internal users to view, upload, organize, and version-control documents
- Integrates with Salesforce metadata and Flows for custom automation
- Supports granular configuration by admins to control layout, behavior, and access
How It Works
When added to a Lightning record page or tab:
- The widget connects to a base folder path in external storage defined by the admin
- Users can create folders, upload files or folders, and view documents with metadata
- File click behavior can be configured to preview, open in a new tab, or disable interaction
- Admins can enable custom Flow actions on individual files (resource-level) or bulk actions (list-level)

- Widget Base Path: Set a default root folder in external storage (SharePoint, Google Drive, etc.)
- Library & Drive ID Support: Specify external library and folder identifiers for dynamic access
- Folder Structure Management: Maintain nested folders inside the defined base path
File & Folder Operations
- Create Folder: Enable users to create new folders from within the widget
- File Upload: Allow individual file uploads to external storage
- Folder Upload: Support bulk folder uploads, including sub-files and sub-folders
- File Deletion: Delete files directly from the external drive
- Drag-and-Drop Support: Easily drop files/folders into the widget for upload
