Price both exits

You are here if storage is heavy and still climbing. Both routes cost something. This page prices both before you choose.

For Salesforce admins, IT and security reviewers, and whoever signs off the budget.

How this guide is sourced

Published by CloudFiles, who sell one of the exits priced here. Every rate is quoted, dated, or produced from your own numbers.

Do this now

Get two prices: what expanding Salesforce storage costs, and what moving your files out costs. Whichever is cheaper is your exit. That is the entire task.

Before you start

  • You need View Setup and Configuration to open Storage Usage.
  • You need your Salesforce order form or contract, for the storage overage rate.
  • A rough export volume helps: how many GB or files would actually move.
  • No admin change, no install, nothing to approve.

How to price it

1. Price staying

Setup, then Quick Find, then Storage Usage, for today's File Storage percent. Your order form or contract for the per-GB overage rate: Salesforce does not publish this rate, so it is the number on your own paperwork, not a published list price. Multiply the rate by how much more you expect to need over the next year.

2. Price leaving

If your AI is connected to Salesforce, ask it directly: “Query ContentVersion for total file size in GB, grouped by month for the last twelve months, and show the growth rate.” That trend, plus your current storage percent, is your export volume. Quote external storage for that volume from wherever you would actually send it, plus a one-time migration estimate.

3. Compare

Cheaper number wins. Date both prices: overage rates and storage quotes both move, and a price six months old is not the price you will pay.

What the prices mean

Stay (expand)Leave (move out)
Rate

Your contract's per-GB overage rate

External storage's per-GB rate, quoted

One-time cost

None

Migration estimate

Year-one total

Rate × your growth

Rate × volume, plus the one-time cost

Both exits cost something. Only one costs less, and that can flip as your volume grows.

When to re-price

Re-run both numbers whenever Salesforce changes storage pricing, or before your renewal, whichever comes first.

Where this stops

This page prices two numbers. It does not pick a destination, plan a migration, or decide identity and permissions: the three gates on the guide are where those get answered. CloudFiles sells one of the exits priced here. The comparison itself needs nothing from us.

Check my working

Most readers will not need this. If the numbers left you unsure, send them and a person will read them.

  • Report: written assessment, two to three working days.
  • Reader: a person. Not a bot, not an auto-reply.
  • Call: only if you ask. We won't ask twice.
  • Fields: four. No phone, no company size, no mailing list.
